Dental Veneers
Porcelain veneers are one of the most exciting new advancements in modern dentistry and have been offered as a cosmetic dentistry treatment option by Dr Fadi Yassmin at Broadway Dental for many years now.
Carefully sculpted from porcelain and chosen for its ability to mimic natural tooth enamel, dental veneers are placed over front teeth to create a flawless looking smile by covering imperfections such as chips, and permanent stains or to close spaces between teeth. Sometimes veneers can be used as an alternative to orthodontic treatment to achieve a straight smile. Put simply, they are ultra-thin, custom made ceramic shells that are laser bonded to your teeth.
First we will work together by taking initial photographs and preparing a study cast which will be used as a foundation for a diagnostic wax up model of the proposed veneers. This is an important step for confirming the desired result before the teeth are prepared. Completed in as few as two appointments, your teeth are then meticulously prepared for the new veneers, ensuring an exceptional and long-lasting result is achieved. Each tooth receiving a veneer is lightly buffed to remove a very small amount of its outer layer so when your veneers are placed they blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. This is a pain-free procedure; however anaesthetic can be used to ensure you are completely comfortable.
An impression mould of your teeth is made and used by a technician in a dental laboratory who will shape your veneers. At your next appointment, your veneers are placed over your teeth, adjusted for comfort, fitted against your gum-line and examined for their colour match prior to being bonded with a specially formulated bonding agent, creating your new beautiful smile.
Although your veneers are crafted from high-grade porcelain, your gums and supporting teeth are still susceptible to tooth decay.
